The Matrix

Language
The title "The Matrix" the font is futuristic and tag-line "the fight for the future begins" allows the audience to feel a part of the movie.
Also entices the audience to understand it is a futuristic movie, release date and billing block (information about the Director and the production company) all follow the expected codes and conventions of a film poster .
Institution
The film was produced by Joel Silver (for Warner Bros. Entertainment Inc) who are associated with sc-fi. It was executively Directed by Lana Wachowski who is a well known director.
Audience
This  is movie seems to be a film which is based for  mixed gender because the main character is a man which has a gun showing the audience that he is in-powered and in the poster there is a female character and she has a pistol in her pistol this my target female audience

Representation
The focal picture shows a male in a dominant position with female on his side. There is a male in the background behind the main character which is perhaps unusual, also in the background there shows data in the form of symbols. This is represented as computers and futuristic tech
